Well here goes, my first blog entry..i thought i would share the running exploits of a former fat northerner who has recently moved to Kent, living in Orpington and running with Petts Wood Runners.
I am in the first few weeks of Marathon training as im doing Paris in April, so today was programmed to be 15 miles at 8 Min 30-8.45 pace (im aiming for 3 hr 30 having done 3 hr 50 at Brighton last yr) so you can imagine my dismay when Steve, Chris, Alan et al rocked up and said ok for 20 @ 8-8.15.... yer right!!!
So John & I merrily trotted off with them (safe in the knowledge at some time we would bail out!) and the chance came rather fortuitously just as high elms appeared on the horizon, about 9 miles in (averaging 8.17 miles), when we were met by another group of PWR's coming the other way..
After a discussion, which probably took too long - we turned round and pushed hard to get on the back of the group heading back to PW, the pace slowed and after the last hill and a quick loop to make it 15 miles a well earned cup of tea was waiting in the car park of willett rec... So job done and the first long run out of the way
